Preschool Field Trip- May 4, 2012

Walking Into Elementary
The first and only field trip of the year for the preschoolers was to the Winterset Elementary School. All of Joel's class except him will be going to kindergarten next year (due to Joel having an October birthday he wont qualify). It was still a good fun trip. The children, teacher, and parents that came we all rode the yellow bus from the preschool to the elementary. All of the children were thrilled that they were going to ride the BIG YELLOW BUS. Joel's teacher who he sat with on the way there asked him if he liked his first bus ride. Joel said, "This isn't my first time. I have rode of my Papa's bus, and he a better driver." I don't it matter how well the driver (the preschool cook) drove Papa still would be better. LOL
Joel showing off at lunch

After we were welcomed to the Elementary we started our tour. Brought back many memories for me. I went to kindergarten at Winterset. I only remember bits and pieces though because I was so young. All I remember is the lunch room, gym, my teacher, and trying to switch classes with my cousin Mindi for April fools Day. Any way. Our first stop on tour was the lunch room, and to eat lunch. Needless to say Joel was not thrilled with the lunch. He isn't a picky eater. I think it was just the fact that it was a different environment, and he has a special milk due to his allergy. All of his friends were drinking chocolate milk. I do have to say that the lunch we had was way better than when I went to school. They are trying to watch how much sugar and fat they are giving the kids more than when I was in school. I never remember having a Ranch Turkey Wrap, Fresh Cut Mixed Fruit. They did have a chocolate chip cookie which is unusual. Joel took the stuff our of his wrap ate it like a salad, ate the watermelon out of the fruit, and that was it. He was upset that he had to drink plain white milk.
Running in Gym

Our next stop was the gym. They got to meet the PE teacher, and run in the gym for a few minutes. The kids had a blast even though it was extremely hot in there. I was about to roast. Joel told me that he can't wait until he gets to play in the gym in a few years. After they got done running they were talking with the teacher, and I snapped a picture of Joel holding hands with one of the girls in his class. AWE!
Next we went through the Art room and Music room. Joel was sad, because when we walked through the art room he couldn't stop to paint with the children that were in there. He love to paint and do artsy things. In the music room he was okay. He wanted to play with the instruments that were in there though, but he didn't. I told him that when he starts going to school there in a couple of years he can play the instruments then. He was okay with that.

The Skeleton
The lizard
The science Teacher and Cockroach
Next was the science room. Joel loved it. He told me it was one of his favorite places. I wouldn't of blamed him it was very neat, and had so much things to draw attention in the room. Plus I thought the science teacher was a HOTTIE! He was quite dreamy. He watched as fist swam in the aquarium, touch a skeleton, look at bee hives. The science teacher decided to something special for the children. He got a lizard out for them all to pet, and he also got a Hissing Cockroach out for them to see. While the kids were in amazement of the cockroach their teacher Mrs. Gibson went running out of them room. I thought she was going to pass out. She hates bugs specially big ones like that one.

Riding on the bus together
Then it was to the library, see a classroom, see the kindergarten playground (sad playground area), and the office. It was such a fun trip with all the children, their parents, and the teachers. I may of been very exhausted after we got done, but it was worth it all! The day was priceless for sure. Seeing the smiles, hearing the oo's and ah's from all the children including the ones from may son was just thrilling. It will be a day that I will never forget for sure. I hate that I can't work because of my heart disease, but I am thrilled to be a stay at home mommy so I don't miss moments like these! Love you Bug!
