Fun, Laughter, Hope, and the Game
February 2012 has been such a great month. It has been a busy month for Joel and I, but it has been a blast of fun. From playing in the snow, birthday lunch, just times of hanging out, and even an awesome basketball game. Even with the month not quite over I have to say it has been a blast.
This winter has been very mild this year. It has been really nice to have nice temps, and just a little snow. What snow we have had Joel has got to enjoy playing in it. No sledding but has enjoyed snowball fights with his godparents, and just playing in it. No matter where we go Joel has to walk in it. One of these days I am going to watch him sled, and build a snowman. It is so much fun to want Joel during the times he has played in the snow with his godparents. One minute they are just trying to build a tower, and the next thing you know snow begins flying. Joel has so much fun trying to make a snowball and throw it. His little laugh just makes you want to giggle even harder.

Joel and I went out for my birthday lunch just the two of us to Des Moines, Iowa. Even though it was my birthday I let Joel pick where we were going to eat at. He chose his favorite place of course Bang Bang (which is a Mongolian place). He loves it there. We eat there at least once a month, because it is one place that my son eats very well, and they know us by name. He even has a couple of the waitresses that adore him (but who wouldn't my son is handsome). We shared my birthday desert. You can probably guess who ate most of it....... It wasn't me I can tell you that. It is okay that he has most of it, because he had been such a good boy.
We have had exciting times at home. Joel and I love just hanging out. Before and after school he loves to practice his letter and numbers. Listening to him sing is so fun as he is doing it too. I got him a Art Easel that has a chalk board on one side, and a white board on the other. Plus it has a clip where you can put paper on it. It is so much fun at this stage when you can see and know that he is learning, and remembering what is taught to him.

Last night Joel and I got to do something fun and very special. We got to go to our first Iowa Energy game at the Wells Fargo Arena in DSM, Iowa. We had such a blast, and Joel was such a good boy. I was impressed with how well he behaved. Nice thing was that we were not squashed with a lot of people around us, because Joel does not handle that very well. Still it was a good crowd. The reason that we went was because we were invited by the American Heart Association to be there. Hey can't beat free tickets and t-shirts. Anyway the AHA was doing a RED OUT to help bring awareness of Heart Diseases. Many heart survivors and their family and friends attended. We all wore shirts that said Hoops for Hearts. Even Joel wore a shirt. It may of been very big on him but he said he wanted to wear it because he wants to help in the fight against heart disease, because of me. Man, I have such a good, and caring son. Right before the game began we got to help with a presentation for the American Heart Association with the other Heart Ambassadors for 2012 as we accepted a check from Century Link of $50,000 for the American Heart Association. Then we got to enjoy the game. The Iowa Energy, Surge (mascot), and the High Voltage Dancers wore the same t-shirts. It was such a game for the memory book. Joel has so much fun watching and cheering for the players, and watching the dancers. As we left Joel said, "Mommy I can't wait to do that again." I told him maybe someday we can do that again. You never know what we will do next.
