In our family Christmas is celebrated basically the whole month of December. Actually is starts the day or two days after Thanksgiving as the Christmas stuff starts to come out. This year Joel asked if we could have a big enough tree to put things under. I agreed with him. So it was time to get a new tree. Joel and I went tree looking, because I had to wait until my check could get in the bank, and plus it had to be picked up (which his godparents were so gracious to do).
While we were looking at the different trees Joel spotted the one he wanted that most. Guess what??? It was his favorite color BLUE. He loved the tree so much. I couldn't resist not to let him get the tree of his choice. He even wanted everything under or had to do with the tree to be blue. I could see it right then it was going to be a BLUE Christmas. Just not the sad blue, just a lot of the color of blue. We put Blue stars around the windows and on the windows for decorations.
This year for Christmas Joel even asked for a BLUE skateboard for Christmas from Santa. Every time we saw Santa which was about 3 times he asked Santa for the Blue Skateboard over and over again. I knew he really wanted it that bad for asking Santa that many times each time we saw Santa.
He also told everyone else that he wanted a Blue Skateboard as well. He also told everyone including me that all we wanted for Christmas is everything BLUE. I asked him why he liked blue so much he said, "Mommy boys are suppose to like blue, plus Thomas (the train) is blue too, and he is my favorite.
One week we went over to our friends house in Indianola to make Christmas cookies. It was such a blast. Joel helped somewhat, but not much. He eventually gave up and just played with toys and watched tv with his buddy, while us ladies chatted and laughed.
A week later we went over to celebrate Christmas with them early. We have so much fun hanging, eating, and giving gifts to one another. It is so nice that they love to include Joel and I. They love to spoil Joel. He loves the attention. Plus he loves that he is the youngest so he gets to open all his Christmas gifts first. He loves his new Lighting MCQueen stuff that he got. He couldn't wait to take them to school with him to show off.
Christmas this year fell on Sunday. So, it was get up early open gifts, get dressed, take family photo, and out the door to church. We had Christmas Breakfast this year at church. Yummy!!! All the food was good. Then was Sunday School which we got ready for the play during church.
It was such a good service. The play went a little different, but the message was the main thing. I played a Wise person this year. Joel was very very cute. Before the play he was dress as a little shepherd boy in a way. He sang for everyone. He sang "Away in the Manger," and he had a little cupcake where he sang "Happy Birthday to Jesus." I was such a proud mommy. Everyone thought he was a doll for doing that.
For all you guys that want to know if Joel got his Blue Skateboard from Santa. He sure did. It is actually a Blue Skateboard Razor. He was so happy to get it from Santa (By the way thank you to two wonderful people that made sure Santa did). He wanted to ride that thing all day.
Since it had been so nice outside Christmas (no snow nothing), let him ride it over to his grandparents apartment just a little ways from us.
